Call For PapersÂ
1st IEEE Workshop on Cloud-Centric Media System (CCMS-2012)Â
In conjunction with IEEE ICME 2012, 9-13 July, Melbourne, AustraliaÂ
Recent advances in communications technologies have witnessed aÂ
growing and evolving multimedia content delivery market based onÂ
information gathering, manipulation, and dissemination. It is a factÂ
that personal communications, computing, broadcasting, entertainment,Â
etc. have turned into streams of multimedia content, and the variousÂ
communication and network technologies have become the means to carryÂ
that content to a wide variety of terminals. Â Existing media deliveryÂ
platforms are faced with many new challenges: low utilization inÂ
system resources, stringent power constraints of the mobile devices,Â
unpredictability in the wireless communication channel, andÂ
heterogeneity in access networking technologies, just to name a few.Â
On the other hand, the comparatively unlimited resources offered byÂ
cloud services and their flexible resource allocation mechanismsÂ
present a unique opportunity for taming some of the aforementionedÂ
challenges for media delivery targeted at a N-screen (e.g., TV, PC,Â
smartphone and tablet) experience. Cloud computing is emerging as aÂ
promising technology to provide additional resources for manyÂ
media-rich applications.Â
The goal of this workshop is to bring together the state-of-the-artÂ
research contribution that describes original and unpublished workÂ
addressing the new emerging techniques on cloud-based media system. ItÂ
seeks high quality submissions in both theoretical and practicalÂ
research. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, theÂ
following scopes:Â
l    Cloud-assisted media content recommendationÂ
l    Resource scheduling and allocation in the cloud for mediaapplicationsÂ
l    Distributed caching of media dataÂ
l    Cloud-based multimedia processingÂ
l    Novel architecture for media cloudsÂ
l    Performance measurements for cloud-based media systemsÂ
l    Cloud-based media applications, such as online gaming, virtualÂ
desktop, etc.Â
l    Multimedia communications over cloudÂ
A submission is 5 standard IEEE conference page; one more paper may beÂ
allowed with additional publication fee.Â
Important datesÂ
u    Paper submission due: 5th March, 2012Â
u    Decision notification due: 26th March, 2012Â
u    Camera-ready and registration due: 9th April, 2012Â
